Journey
To help you understand the myMAP program, meet six of our students: Anna, Sam, Peter, Rosa, Sarah and Will. Each has unique interests, talents and aspirations.

Anna is exploring acceleration options with myMAP.
Anna is in Year 7, and is choosing her subjects for semester two. She completed Quaere in semester one, where she was able to participate in a range of classes from all of the learning domains.
Anna enjoyed Quaere Humanities and in consultation with her teacher and Learning Mentor decided to accelerate into a white History subject in semester two, along with her Sandstone subjects. Anna is required to select an English and Religious Education of her choice in addition to studying Mathematics, and participating in the myBeing program.
Anna has autonomy over her learning experience, so she can choose a variety of other subjects from a range of learning domains.
Anna’s pathway looks like this:
Peter is exploring a traditional Year 8 pathway through the selection of a broad range of subjects.
During his first year, Peter enjoyed a wide range of subjects. His Year 7 report indicated that he is at the standard expected. This was supported by testing data and other information presented and discussed with his Learning Mentor. He doesn’t have any idea what he wants to do when he reaches the senior years of secondary school yet. Peter has consulted a range of adults in his life and decided that he wants to keep his options open and select a program across a broad range of subjects.
Peter’s program as he enters the second year of myMap looks like this:
Sarah is building and refining her myMAP journey.
Sarah studied the following subjects in her second year of the myMAP program. Sarah is in Year 8 and studied the following subjects in her second year of the myMAP program.
Sarah is starting to think about what she might like to study in her senior years, so she is refining her subject choices to support this. Sarah enjoyed most of these subjects. She is still interested in studying courses relating to her strengths of Dance and Visual Arts. Sarah has experienced significant gains in her literacy skills over the past year and has again decided to complete two English courses. One is a core subject, meaning it runs all year, and the other is an elective so it only runs for one semester.
Sarah’s subjects as she enters the third year of the program is as follows:
Rosa is keeping her options open for future pathways.
Rosa is in Year 9 and is selecting her subjects for Year 10. She is unsure of her pathway beyond СʪƵ, so she wants to keep her options open when selecting subjects for her final year of myMAP. She is showing an interest in the Health Sciences as well as Visual Art.
Rosa’s program as she enters the fourth year of myMAP looks like this:
Will is considering alternative pathways for his senior years.
Will has joined СʪƵ as a boarder for the last three years of his secondary schooling. He is looking forward to starting his myMap journey in Year 10 that will last one year before he begins his senior pathways certificate. Will excels in applied learning environments and has chosen to accelerate into a VET course in Year 10 as well as a range of subjects to prepare him for the VCE Vocational Major.
This is Will’s myMAP as he enters the fourth year of the program:
Sam is accelerating into a Year 11 subject in Year 10.
He has known for some time that his plan was to accelerate into VCE Biology, therefore he completed Pre-VCE Biology (Dark Blue) in Year 9 to effectively prepare. Sam went through the required acceleration application process which involved discussions with his Biology teacher, Learning Mentor and his family.
Sam’s pathway for his final year of myMAP looks like this:
